Terms of service
Using HCA’s website and taking part in membership, volunteering, donations and community activities.
Last updated:
1. About these terms
These terms explain the use of Hazara Cultural Association’s website and its online enquiry, membership, volunteering, donation and newsletter features. HCA is a not-for-profit community association based in Melbourne.
Specific application, payment and event conditions are provided at the relevant point of participation. Read those conditions before agreeing. These website terms do not replace HCA’s constitution, membership rules or code of conduct.
2. Respectful use and participation
Use the website and engage with our community respectfully. Provide accurate information and only submit information you are authorised to share.
- Do not use forms or community channels for harassment, discrimination, threats, spam or unlawful activity.
- Do not impersonate another person, misuse someone else’s information or attempt to access records without permission.
- Do not interfere with the website, bypass access controls or disrupt its operation.
HCA may restrict website access or remove contributions that breach these conditions. Decisions about membership or participation remain subject to the applicable HCA rules.
3. Accounts and enquiries
Keep your login details secure and let HCA know if you suspect unauthorised access. Do not share access to restricted member or administration areas with another person.
Sending an enquiry or expressing interest does not confirm membership, a volunteer role, a booking or an event place. HCA will communicate any further requirements. The contact form and enquiry modal are for community enquiries; they do not create a professional advisory engagement.
4. Membership applications and billing
Apply using the membership form and review the category, code of conduct and payment terms that apply. Payment does not mean your membership has been accepted. HCA reviews applications; accepted paid memberships have the initial 12-month commitment described in the payment authorisation.
The current payment authorisations shown in the application are:
Monthly: I authorise AUD 10 now and every month. If HCA accepts my application, I commit to the first 12 months (AUD 120 total), starting with my first billing period. After that, payments continue monthly. Cancellation takes effect no earlier than the end of the commitment or current billing period. If HCA rejects my application, future billing stops and any refund is reviewed separately.
Annual: I authorise AUD 115 now for 12 months (saving AUD 5 compared with 12 monthly payments), then AUD 115 every year until I stop renewal. If HCA accepts my application, the first 12 months are a commitment. I can request non-renewal for the end of the term. If HCA rejects my application, future billing stops and any refund is reviewed separately.
Full-time students have a fee-free application option. Unemployed applicants, pensioners and people experiencing financial hardship can request an exemption or waiver for HCA to review. No card payment is taken when submitting these fee-free applications or requests.
Contact HCA about billing questions, non-renewal, cancellation or exceptional circumstances. Unsubscribing from a newsletter or requesting account deletion does not cancel membership billing. Nothing in these terms removes any rights or remedies available under applicable law.
5. Donations and recurring payments
The donation form offers one-time and monthly donations in Australian dollars. Review the amount, frequency and acknowledgement choice before continuing to Stripe’s checkout. HCA does not store full card numbers or card security codes.
Monthly donations authorise the selected amount now and each month until cancelled, with no minimum term. You can stop future renewals through your donation confirmation page or by contacting HCA. Stopping future renewals does not automatically refund a completed payment.
If a payment was made in error or you want to request a refund, contact HCA with the payment reference and details. Requests are reviewed individually, subject to applicable legal rights. A donation receipt does not itself establish tax deductibility.
The form explains that your name and donation amount will be publicly acknowledged unless you select the anonymous option. Contact HCA if you need an acknowledgement changed.
6. Events, volunteering and community support
Check the individual event page for dates, locations, registration arrangements and any fees or conditions. Past-event reports do not announce future dates. Contact HCA to confirm details before making plans.
Volunteer applications help HCA understand your interests and availability; submitting one does not guarantee a placement. Follow the organiser’s instructions and the requirements for your agreed role.
Community assistance, including help understanding Census forms, supports participants in making their own decisions. It does not authorise a volunteer to choose another person’s answers. Partners such as Little Bamiyan Directory and Kateb Offices may have their own registration or participation arrangements.
8. Photographs, stories and website content
Website text, photographs, videos, logos and other material belong to HCA, their creators or the relevant rights holders. Respect credits and permissions. Contact HCA before reusing material unless the law or an existing licence allows your intended use.
When sending us content, ensure you have the right to share it and tell us about any publication restrictions. Submission alone does not transfer ownership to HCA. Contact us with the page link if you have a concern about a photograph, a credit or a story.
9. External links and address search
Links to event organisers, partners and other websites are provided for information. Their content, forms and services are managed separately and may have their own terms and privacy notices. Review those notices before submitting information or making a payment.
Optional address search uses Google Maps and is subject to the Google Maps terms and Google privacy policy. You can enter your address manually instead.
10. Website availability and your rights
We aim to keep website information useful and accurate, but content may change and features may be temporarily unavailable. Let us know about errors and confirm time-sensitive event or programme details with the organiser.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a right, guarantee or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable rights under Australian Consumer Law.
11. Changes and applicable law
The revision date appears at the top of this page. Updates to website terms do not by themselves change a payment authorisation you have already given. Any changes to an existing arrangement must follow its terms and applicable law.
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria and Australia, subject to any mandatory protections that apply to you.
12. Questions or concerns
Contact Hazara Cultural Association with questions about these terms, a payment or participation in an HCA activity. Include enough detail for us to identify the relevant enquiry or transaction.
